At BATEL, we aim to responsibly provide energy for the future by reducing our carbon footprint and integrating sustainability into all our activities.
As a Turkish electromechanical manufacturer, we are aware of our responsibility towards our country, our society and our planet to combat climate change. With this vision, we took the first step on our zero carbon journey by launching a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction program in 2024.
This program combines our commitment to protecting the environment with our mission to deliver world-class sustainable solutions through clear goals, concrete actions and defined responsibilities.
Technologies and Innovations for a Low Carbon Footprint
At BATEL, sustainability is at the heart of our business strategy. We believe that real technological progress should serve both people and the planet. Batel Green Transformation Program (BYDP) With the Green Transformation Program (GTP), we invest in innovations in line with global climate goals. We work in a wide range of areas, from SF₆-free electricity distribution systems to practices that increase energy efficiency in products and processes.
We support the green transformation in the industry and offer reliable energy solutions with low environmental impact. We reduce emissions in our operations and support our customers to take steps in the same direction. Thus, we contribute to a more sustainable future both in Turkey and the world.
From 2024 Base Year to Zero Carbon
As part of this journey, we have identified the areas of activity that have the highest impact on our total emissions. We are making measurable progress by adopting clean production technologies, increasing energy efficiency and prioritizing the use of renewable energy in our operations through improvement projects in these areas.
Our carbon reduction strategy is based on internationally recognized methodologies and is aligned with the Paris Agreement's targets to limit global temperature rise. Accordingly, we have set medium and long-term targets based on 2024.
2030: Toplam Sera gazı emisyonlarımızı %100 azaltmak (2024 seviyelerine göre) ve zero emissions.
These targets have been prepared with scientific criteria according to ISO 14064-1 standard and GHG Protocol methodology. Our 2024 Corporate Carbon Footprint Report, prepared for the first time in our history, will be the reference point against which all our future progress will be measured.
Concrete Steps to Reduce Emissions
SF₆ Free Technologies
Product development activities are being carried out in SF₆-free switching systems using alternative insulating gases and vacuum cutting technology.
Energy Efficiency Improvements
Üretim ekipmanlarının modernizasyonu, LED aydınlatmaya geçiş, yalıtımın güçlendirilmesi, çevre dostu soğutucu kullanımı ve çalışan farkındalık programlarıyla minimum %10 enerji tasarrufu hedeflenmektedir.
Renewable Energy Integration
Güneş paneli gibi sahaya kurulabilir yenilenebilir sistemlerin planlanması ve sertifikalı yeşil elektrik temini ile 2030 yılına kadar elektrik tüketiminde %100 yenilenebilir enerjiye geçiş amaçlanmaktadır.
Sustainable Logistics
It is aimed to transform the vehicle and forklift fleet into electric alternatives, encourage shuttle and sharing applications, and optimize logistics routes.
Sustainable Materials and Waste Reduction
The use of recycled packaging materials, sending recyclable waste to licensed facilities and preferring environmentally friendly materials in procurement are supported.
Tracking Progress and Accountability
Annual Greenhouse Gas Inventory
Annual reporting is made to include all main greenhouse gases within the scope of TS EN ISO 14064-1:2019 standard and GHG Protocol. In this way, progress is measured according to the base year 2024.
Quality Team and Governance
A dedicated GHG Management Team coordinates data collection, reduction projects and inter-departmental follow-up.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Progress is monitored through indicators such as submetered electricity consumption, waste reduction and water use. Our environmental performance indicators are regularly reviewed by the company's senior management.
Our Climate Action Roadmap
Our climate action roadmap is a target-oriented plan. In the short term, we aim to complete the efficiency projects identified, commission SF₆-free products and make preparations for renewable energy. In the medium term, we plan to install solar energy systems, adopt the ISO 50001 energy management system and gradually convert our vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.
Our long-term goal is to integrate sustainability into all stages of our value chain, from raw material procurement to the end of the product life cycle, and to contribute to the future with our innovations.
