1972 – Development of Türkiye's First Domestically Manufactured Low-Oil Circuit Breaker

The first prototypes of Türkiye's domestically manufactured low-oil circuit breakers were developed at the high-voltage fuse manufacturing workshop of the Turkish Electricity Authority's Adapazarı Regional Directorate by Tevfik Mağara and his maintenance team. Many of these circuit breakers remained in service for decades, reflecting the reliability and engineering quality of their design.

1972 First Domestic Cutter

1977 – Launch of Low-Oil Circuit Breaker Manufacturing in İzmir

Through a technical collaboration with Electroutere of Romania, the manufacturing of low-oil circuit breaker poles and operating mechanisms commenced in İzmir. Electrical wiring, spring-charging motors, opening and closing coils, and other key components were progressively localized. What began in a 300 m² workshop at İzmir's 2nd Industrial Zone rapidly expanded to 600 m², and by the end of 1978, the operating mechanisms were being manufactured entirely in Türkiye.

1977 – Launch of Medium-Voltage Surge Arrester Manufacturing

In collaboration with MINEL of Yugoslavia, Batel initiated the production of medium-voltage surge arresters by integrating imported silicon carbide varistors with locally sourced porcelain insulators and other key components. This milestone was supported by the company's first major testing investment: a 200 kV lightning impulse voltage test system, reinforcing its commitment to quality and technological advancement.

1980 – First Domestic Production of Silicon Carbide Varistors for Medium-Voltage Surge Arresters

Leveraging technology transferred through its collaboration with MINEL of Yugoslavia, Batel commenced the domestic production of silicon carbide varistors at its Kemalpaşa facility, marking another important milestone in the localization of critical power system components.

1980 – Domestic Insulation Production at the Epoxy Resin Facility

The introduction of glass fiber-reinforced epoxy insulated pole tubes enabled the complete localization of low-oil circuit breaker manufacturing, further strengthening Batel's production capabilities and engineering independence.

1984 – Türkiye's First Domestically Manufactured Medium-Voltage SF₆ Circuit Breaker

Through a technology partnership with NMG of Italy, Batel achieved another industry milestone by introducing Türkiye's first domestically manufactured medium-voltage SF₆ circuit breakers. Insulated poles were produced in-house at the company's epoxy resin facility, further strengthening its local manufacturing capabilities.

1985 – Production of 72.5–170 kV High-Voltage SF₆ Circuit Breakers

In collaboration with Energoinvest of Yugoslavia, Batel expanded into high-voltage applications with the production of 72.5–170 kV SF₆ circuit breakers. While SF₆-insulated poles were sourced through the partnership, the remaining components were manufactured locally. Product validation was supported by advanced testing capabilities, including 350 kV high-voltage and 900 kV lightning impulse test systems.

1985 – Production of 72.5–170 kV High-Voltage Surge Arresters

In collaboration with Siemens of Germany, Batel expanded its high-voltage surge arrester portfolio by integrating imported silicon carbide varistors with locally manufactured components, further advancing its domestic production capabilities.

Designed and manufactured entirely by Batel's R&D engineers, these high-voltage disconnectors represented another milestone in the company's commitment to indigenous engineering and technological independence.

1985 – Production of 380 kV High-Voltage Surge Arresters

Designed and manufactured entirely by Batel's R&D engineers, these outdoor SF₆ automatic load break switches reflected the company's growing expertise in switching technologies and its commitment to locally driven innovation.

1985 – Production of Outdoor SF₆ Automatic Load Break Switches

Designed and manufactured entirely by Batel's R&D engineers, these high-voltage disconnectors represented another milestone in the company's commitment to indigenous engineering and technological independence.

1986 – Türkiye's First Domestically Manufactured Vacuum Circuit Breaker

Through a technology collaboration with Fuji of Japan, Batel introduced Türkiye's first domestically manufactured vacuum circuit breakers. Vacuum interrupters sourced from Japan were integrated with locally produced insulated poles and operating mechanisms, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of indigenous switching technologies.

1986 - Medium Voltage Jumping Intermittent Metal Oxide Variable Resistance Surge Arrester Production

In cooperation with Hitachi - Japan, metal oxide variable resistors were imported and other parts were produced domestically.

1991 – Establishment of Batel Elektromekanik

Founded with a vision to support the development of Türkiye's energy infrastructure, Batel Elektromekanik entered the industry with a strong commitment to domestic manufacturing, engineering excellence, and innovation-driven solutions.

1991 – Production of BATEL 36 kV 630 A 16 kA and 36 kV 1250 A 25 kA SF₆ Circuit Breaker Poles

The successful production of BATEL's 36 kV SF₆ circuit breaker poles marked a significant milestone in strengthening the company's domestic manufacturing capabilities and advancing its expertise in medium-voltage switching technologies.

2009 – Türkiye's First Domestically Manufactured Vacuum Interrupter

The production of Türkiye's first domestically manufactured BVK-type vacuum interrupter marked a major technological achievement for Batel. The same period also saw the introduction of the BGK-type SF₆ circuit breaker product family, further expanding the company's medium-voltage portfolio through locally developed technologies.
