At Batel, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and embedding sustainability across every aspect of our operations. As a Turkish electromechanical manufacturer, we recognize our responsibility to contribute to the fight against climate change and support the transition to a low-carbon future. In 2024, we took a decisive step on our net-zero journey by launching the Batel Green Transformation Program (BGTP), a comprehensive initiative focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through measurable targets, concrete actions, and clear accountability. Through this program, we reinforce our commitment to environmental stewardship while delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that create long-term value for our stakeholders and society.

Green Transformation Program (BYDP) With the Green Transformation Program (GTP), we invest in innovations in line with global climate goals. We work in a wide range of areas, from SF₆-free electricity distribution systems to practices that increase energy efficiency in products and processes.

   

From Baseline to Net Zero: Our 2024 Commitment

As part of our net-zero journey, we have identified the activities with the greatest impact on our greenhouse gas emissions and prioritized targeted improvement initiatives. Through cleaner production technologies, enhanced energy efficiency, and increased use of renewable energy, we are driving measurable progress across our operations. Our decarbonization strategy is built on internationally recognized methodologies and aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement. Using 2024 as our baseline year, we have established clear medium- and long-term targets to guide our transition to a low-carbon future. 2030 Target: Achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions relative to our 2024 baseline. These targets have been developed in accordance with ISO 14064-1 and the GHG Protocol. Our inaugural 2024 Corporate Carbon Footprint Report will serve as the benchmark against which our future performance and progress will be measured.

Our carbon reduction strategy is based on internationally recognized methodologies and is aligned with the Paris Agreement's targets to limit global temperature rise. Accordingly, we have set medium and long-term targets based on 2024.

Concrete Actions to Reduce Emissions

SF₆-Free Technologies

Innovation efforts focus on advancing SF₆-free switching solutions through the use of alternative insulating gases and vacuum interruption technologies.

Energy Efficiency Improvements

Üretim ekipmanlarının modernizasyonu, LED aydınlatmaya geçiş, yalıtımın güçlendirilmesi, çevre dostu soğutucu kullanımı ve çalışan farkındalık programlarıyla minimum %10 enerji tasarrufu hedeflenmektedir.​

Renewable Energy Integration

Güneş paneli gibi sahaya kurulabilir yenilenebilir sistemlerin planlanması ve sertifikalı yeşil elektrik temini ile 2030 yılına kadar elektrik tüketiminde %100 yenilenebilir enerjiye geçiş amaçlanmaktadır.​

Sustainable Logistics

Environmental impact is reduced through the electrification of vehicle and forklift fleets, the adoption of shared mobility practices, and the optimization of logistics routes.

Sustainable Materials and Waste Reduction

Procurement and operational processes are guided by circular economy principles, prioritizing recycled packaging materials, responsible waste recovery through licensed partners, and environmentally preferable materials.

Annual Greenhouse Gas Inventory

Annual reporting is made to include all main greenhouse gases within the scope of TS EN ISO 14064-1:2019 standard and GHG Protocol. In this way, progress is measured according to the base year 2024.

Quality Team and Governance

A dedicated GHG Management Team coordinates data collection, reduction projects and inter-departmental follow-up.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

Progress is monitored through indicators such as submetered electricity consumption, waste reduction and water use. Our environmental performance indicators are regularly reviewed by the company's senior management.

 

Our Climate Action Roadmap

 

Our climate action roadmap outlines a clear path toward a low-carbon future. In the near term, priority is given to energy efficiency initiatives, the deployment of SF₆-free technologies, and preparations for renewable energy integration. Medium-term actions include on-site solar investments, the implementation of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems, and the gradual electrification of the company fleet. Long-term ambitions extend across the entire value chain—from responsible sourcing and manufacturing to end-of-life considerations—embedding sustainability into every stage of our operations and innovation processes.
